Re: 19 and pregnant... just need some help! - August 19th 2013, 05:28 PM

First you need to figure out how far along you are. To do that, you will need either the first day of your last period or the day you conceived. Then you can go here: http://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-due-date-calculator Once you do that, you can get a ball park on how far along you are.

Then you need to see your doctor to get the pregnancy confirmed and they can talk to you about things like pregnancy symptoms that are not OK. In general the rule is, if you are in pain that makes you double over (either in your abdomen, back or shoulders), bleeding more than a pad’s worth of blood (or passing clots), strong painful cramping or a fever over 101. Any one of those and you need to call your doctor immediately. If you can’t get a hold of your doctor go to the emergency room.

Some people wait until after the first trimester to tell people because that is when the chance of miscarriage dramatically drops. Some people wait until after the pregnancy is deemed viable by ultrasound. When you decide to tell people is up to you.
Pregnancy can be very overwhelming, but I feel the best thing to do is educate yourself. Get books, read about pregnancy and infancy, prepare yourself for things to come. Things will seem a lot less overwhelming when read about it in advanced. Also you always have us here on Teenhelp to talk to.
