Re: Is self harm pronography inlegal? ( US ) - November 1st 2013, 12:12 PM

I would say no. Pornography, generally, is not illegal. Of course, all pornographic films or tapes that are to be released to the public require a licence. That licence is determined by the Executive (or the Administrative, depending on the location), and strict regulations apply to gain such a licence. Those regulations, to my mind, would include sanitary evaluations and necessary sexual health checks. The safety of the actors would obviously play a big part in the securing of such licences, and certain health staff and the like would need to be present in case something goes wrong, depending on the type of pornographic film. Nevertheless, whilst you need a permit to produce pornographic films, you don't need a licence to view them. You can generally be sure you're not going to get into any trouble watching self-harm pornography. However, I don't have much legal knowledge of the US porn industry, or US media in general, so take what I've said with a grain of salt and do some investigating of your own (there are always exceptions to the First Amendment).
