I am from... (Poem) - November 26th 2013, 03:53 AM

So my choir teacher introduced me to this type of poem, so I decided to write one of my own. Enjoy.
**********************

I am from days spend alone in my room,
Playing fairy princess, doll hairdresser, or vet.

I am from whispering to myself, creating my own world and living in it, because it's better than the world we have now.

I am from getting what I wanted for Christmas
And getting bored of it within five minutes.

I am from not being able to afford gifts, having to make do with what I already have.

I am from two parents who always had enough money, and who could afford nice things for me.

I am from parents who lost it all, who are worried and stressed over money and such.

I am from nights spent wishing I was older, pretending to be a stereotypical teenager.

I am from nights spend crying in my room, wishing I could be a kid again.

I am from the corner of the room, where I spent most of my time, watching as everyone else had fun.

I am from the center of the dance floor, being cheered on by the people who once ignored me.

I am from the quiet nights in my room, crying myself to sleep over dreams that won't come true.

I am from the community theatre who accepted me, slowly but surely, making my way to achieving my goals.

I am from backstage, watching the show from the wings.

I am from the stage, where I can feel loved, wanted, needed, like I belong.

I am from rejected hugs, and rejected "hi's" from people who were "cooler than me"

I am from many hugs and many "hi's" from the people I truly call "friend."

I am from the cast list, always seeing my name next to "ensemble".

I am from childhood dreams, only to be crushed by bitter reality.

I am from everything. Every event, every little tiny occurrence, made me who I am today. And I am grateful.

Savvy?
