Happy holidays from TeenHelp! - December 26th 2017, 04:45 AM

Hello everyone,

Last year we talked about the importance of growing strong roots, and that is as true as ever. But roots come in many shapes and forms. This is the time of the year to spend with friends and family, to share love and joy together, to mend broken relationships and to forge new ones too!

But you also need to realise the importance of working on yourself and finding inner strength first. If you're constantly looking outwards, towards what others need and what will make others happy, you risk leaving yourself behind in the process. It’s time to look inwards a little and find what is important for yourself. That's right, 2018 is the year to work on you!

Start the New Year with a positive mindset and positive things will follow. Your outlook becomes your reality, so if you look at things negatively they will often stay negative. But you can work to change your mindset by challenging yourself. Work on being more hopeful, blame yourself less and set smart goals, for example.

Be sure to stay in the moment, focus on what you can achieve now and work on letting go of the things that have come before. The past is set in stone but the future is yours to shape.

Listen to yourself and take care of your needs. Have the courage to make the decisions that will be in your best interests, even if they don't fit in with what others expect of you.

And try new things, whether that be taking up an exciting new hobby or enjoying simple pleasures with the people who matter to you, make it count.

Most importantly, seize the year and make it your own! 2018 is the year to work on you.

Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year!
