advice on cutting a hat? - February 10th 2018, 07:19 PM

so i recently bought a hat for the sole purpose of cutting a bite mark into it, kind of like in this hat:

it's a nice, camo hat and it'd be cool if i didn't completely ruin it in this process, so i was just wondering if you guys had any ideas on what the best way to go about this would be?
there's not much on google about cutting designs into perfectly good hats for some reason.

i was assuming i would just trace the bite mark on it and then cut right through the brim, but i want to be able to sew it up afterwards so it doesn't look like the arts and crafts project that it is. or if not sew it, at least be able to make sure the fabric stays on the hat and doesn't shred or anything. would it look too messy with this method? also i don't know if even my strongest scissors could cut through the brim.

i don't know what i'm supposed to do
