Mr Pibb makes a retun - October 21st 2025, 11:24 PM

Coca Cola’s “competing” product to Dr.Pepper will go back to being called Mr. Pibb instead of Pibb Xtra- likely due to some 90s nostalgia. I put competing in quotes because the companies have a bit of a weird relationship- with Coca Cola being paid to distribute Dr.Pepper instead in some markets. Dr. Pepper is actually produced by a third soda company(the same one that produces 7up, snapple, and RC cola) and it relies on Coca Cola and Pepsi to distribute their product for them. That has led to misconception that it is a coke or pepsi product as it can often be found in (both) coke and pepsi machines and fountains.

It has raised my hope that coca cola will bring back my favorite soda at least on a limited time basis- a discontinued mountain dew competitor called Surge. Coca Cola has not been able to successfully compete with PepsiCo in the citrus soda market.
