Nobody is saying that it's selfish to bring a baby in the world. PPMD can have fatal consequences, go look up Andrea Yates. She was told she couldn't have any more children because of her BPD and past experience post-partum. Yet she had a fifth and less than a year later, she murdered her children because she didn't have the support she needed.
Abortion is also done for financial reasons, in instances of incest and rape, fatal fetal abnormality like anencephaly. Would you want a neonate with a mere brain stem be born only to suffer horribly for the forty minutes its alive? Or would you want a child to be born to a mother who can't afford to keep a roof over her head or get meals every night? Or a child be born to a mother who was raped by an acquaintance, partner, or family member?
