What are ways to not self-harm?

Like what are ways you distract yourself/keep yourself from self-harming?
I'm making something for my friend and i could use some suggestions on how to distract yourself, and not self-harm. I'm not very good at distracting myself, which is why I need answers ha.

Actually, we have a great list of alternatives to self harm! :D That list is located here.

For me personally, I like things that allow a person to express themselves, like writing or using art, or even exercising to release stress. They can call up or hang out with a friend or family member, watch a movie or TV show, do homework, read a book, clean/reorganize their room, cook...

Or a lot more.
