I don't know if trying to stop cutting is worth it as I relapsed, again.
I relapsed today, and this time it was really bad.
Today was my 13 day self harm free and I broke it. I just don't know if trying not to cut is worth it since every 3 or 4 Weeks I get so weak I have to cut out something always happens that just pushes me over the edge. I'm such a useless waste of space it's disgusting. Why should I stop cutting, no one cares! Sorry it turned into a rant but I just can't see the point anymore. |

Re: I don't know if trying to stop cutting is worth it as I relapsed, again.
Thirteen days is great! Also, it's awesome that you can go 3-4 weeks between each time cutting. It's hard when all you can see are the slip-ups, but from an outside perspective, you're strong and you're fighting.
Self harm is a terrible addiction to have, and because it's so addictive it's extremely hard to stop suddenly and completely. I'm pretty sure everyone who has tried to recover from self harm has had slip-ups and relapses. I know I have. It's tough, but it's definitely worth it to recover. You are not useless, you are important. There's something called the paper chain project that I'd like to recommend to you. You make a paper chain and add a loop every day. A colored loop if you didn't cut that day, and a white loop if you slipped up. (Also, you don't have to do it with a paper chain, I make duct tape roses with the same idea behind them--adding a petal a day.) It's a great way to see your progress because you can see all the days that you didn't cut as opposed to fixating on the few that you did. It's been helpful to me because it gives me another chance. If I slip up one day, that doesn't ruin everything and completely set me back, because I get a second chance the next day. It's a crappy addiction, but you've already shown that you're strong enough to fight it. |
Re: I don't know if trying to stop cutting is worth it as I relapsed, again.
Thx guys. I'm actually making a tally every day on the side of my wardrobe if I haven't cut that day. I'll see what tomorrow is like, I'll probably try again. Thx a bunch. :*

yes, you should still try to stop self harming. i know that it is tough, since i've tried and failed many times, but in the end it's worth it. You aren't useless and a waste of space, there is someone that cares about you.
