hiding cuts in hot weather ?
how do i cover up fresh cuts on my arm. as i've never really had a problem hiding them as i've usually cut on my belly ect in places that can be covered up, but recently in the past year i've started cutting more and more and moved onto my arms ect, today i did alot on my arm, but my parents have been asking me to remove my jumper ect, yesterday i managed to hide them easier than i though, as i could roll my sleeves up and wear braceletts to cover them ect, but now today i did more and theres alot more, and its made them alot harder to cover, so all day i've had my jumper on with me sleeves down but this has been raising the ' why dont you take your jumper off ' question with my parents, i've told them im fine im not too hot, yet in 18 degree celcius heat they arent exactly beleving that and i did get the occasional look from them, so how do i cover up fresh cuts on my arms without my parents getting suspicious ? i've tried bio oil and moisturiser which has helped abit but their still so visible as theyre fresh and both of thoose stung like crazy. so is there anything that i can use to hide them abit or hide them without my parents asking why im wearing a jumper in 18 + degree heat ? i dont want my parents knowing about the cutting ect as i've kept it hidden from them for 4 years and would like to keep it hidden from them, i have told a PCSO who i know in RL but i cant seem to bring myself to tell my parents, and would like to keep it hidden from them.

It depends on how far up your arm the cuts are but what about a sweatband/armband? I know Claire's has armbands that nearly reach your elbow.

Seen as you're already using moisturiser etc, I haven't got any tips on how to cover them up make-up wise, instead try a change of outfit. Instead of wearing a jumper, if it's warm why not wear a vest top with a shirt over it. Obviously one with long sleeves, but they're thin and if you have it open showing you're not wearing anything wintery underneath your parents may not ask as many questions. Hope you can try to not cut as much as you are doing!

I think of course depending on where abouts on your arms the cuts are, using bracelets and sweat bands could be a really good idea :)

Bracelets, sweat bands, armwarmers, long-sleeve mesh shirts, etc. could work. :) In fact, I've got a sweat band covering my wrist right now, works quite well. :P

If they're above your elbow, long sleeves rolled up? It's less obvious, and you could just say it's in case you get a bit chilly later in the day.. Below the elbows is a bit harder. Wristbands work, but if you don't normally wear them, it'd be just as obvious as wearing long sleeves or sweaters in hot weather.

Honestly, i think you should say something about it. You can get help if you let them know you hurt.I went through all this. It is much better when you get the help.

The best way is to just not do it. But it's hard to just stop.
Do NOT put any more lotion or anything over fresh cuts. It might help on scars that are fully healed but it's not good to put it on new cuts. It really all depends on what part of your arm it is and how many etc. |

i do have gummy braceletts/shag bands (46 of them) on my wrist so those ones are covered, its more the ones on my forearm as such that im having trouble hiding without a jumper. i have been rolling the sleeves up abit but because of where they are its hard to hide without them asking me to take my jumper off or to roll my sleeves up more. i do have some shirts that i could do that with.

For scars if you go to your GP about it they can refer you to the Red Cross and they will provide camouflage like dermablend and match it to your skin colour and then you can get it on prescription. I think you have to have stopped self harming or be serious about stopping for them to refer you because you can't put them on open wounds. http://www.redcross.org.uk/What-we-d...kin-camouflage |

Wristbands, bracelets, arm bands etc. Vitamin D really helps heal the scars quickly, maybe you could take vitamin D tabs?
Rolling up long sleeves usually works or you could also wear 3/4 length sleeves. You can get creams that heal scars quicker, and if you really need to you can use a bit of makeup to cover them.. Good luck! |

thats what i have been doing but since the ones i want to cover on my forearm are fresh cuts the bio oil and moisturiser sting like hell each time i use them, so i've stopped using them for the time being.

Bandaids are a wonderful idea. Every time I've used them on any sort of wound it heals twice as fast and leaves a very less noticable scar.

i know putting bio oil ect on fresh ones is a bad idea. apart from anything else i stung like hell, it didnt really help reduce the fresh ones just made them swell up and stuff.
i'll buy some tommorow, theres a shop i can get some rather funky ones from in the shopping centre for not much money too. xD thier not deep as such, i've had worse cuts than the ones at the moment, usually short and deepish but this time their long and not deep. |

If there are a lot of cuts then a bandage might be best as it will cover them all at once.
If you use plasters you may have to use more than one which will look odd and obvious. If you just have a bandage covering them all it will not show how many cuts there are and you could say it is just one and you could tell people you fell or something. Also as for clothes, http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/s...louses_1260060 There are some cute shirts here, some long sleeve and some 3/4 sleeve which will cover the top of your arms but they are thin and summery. true , i have the black cardigan already , and few a blouses and such like and few bits and bobs, i'll buy some plasters ect tommorow, and see how that goes. thanks. clothes and braceletts will work. still going to buy plasters ect, can buy some plasters from the shop in the plaza that sell all sorts. its like a discount store but does funky plasters with like little patterns on them and stuff at a cheapish price.
