Psychiatrist going on maternity leave

Im nervous because Ive been on klonopin for years and my psychiatric nurse is going on a very extended maternity leave while the doctor is on sabbatical. The only person left is another psychiatric nurse who Ive seen no reviews for online. I am frankly worried she is going to be racist because she advertises herself as "wanting to help people of color" without any mention of compassionate care for everyone. It just didn't "sound right" to me. I get a racist vibe from her just looking at her picture. Ive met some black against white racists and many of them advertise themselves like this. Ive also met many wonderful people of African descent. I am worried about: 1) she is one of the majority of providers who don't like prescribing benzos and 2) she will give me unfair treatment because I am not of color.

I'm on the same medication as you and I get it, it's hard to have your psychiatrist go on an extended maternity leave. But just try the other psych nurse bc she could be so much different from what you think. Just an idea

I'm sorry you are going through this and I hope this new person is helpful to you and you will be okay soon.

Ugh, that sucks. Your temporary nurse might be able to access the notes of the one that is going on maternity leave, or you can request that she is able to see them. That way she knows what your treatment history is and why it's important for you to stay on the benzos. It's dangerous to be cut off cold turkey so she might be willing to keep you on.

I hate it when this happens. In my 16 years of struggling with OCD/anxiety and depression, there has only been one mental health professional that has helped me and he no longer practices.
