Could I have an eating disorder?

So I'm 5'2" maybe 3" and I'm a "healthy weight", I have BPD and am not yet in DBT. I've become obsessed with counting calories and restricting to under edited, I also work out everyday to burn most or all of what I eat off. I've thought about purging, and make sure to stop eating at 7 and to not eat until 7am. I don't want to be a healthy weight though, I want to be underweight and my sister is tiny and every time I see her I want to be skinny like her. (She's older than I am). I have no idea how to deal with this nore do I know if I want to. When I went to hospital all they just told me to eat and take care of myself... I'm a healthy weight so I don't think I have an ED but does this matter?

Hi there.

I'm sorry you're going through this but thank you for reaching out to us.

Weight doesn't decide whether or have an eating disorder. My sister is anorexic and yes she's Ben underweight and is only just at a healthy weight but I have EDNOS and Bulimia and I'm not underweight. So don't let that fool you. Oh clearly struggle with your eating and this could be an eating disorder. I can't tell you whether it is or not because I'm not medically trained but if you want a diagnosis you need to see your doctor or a psychiatrist.

Getting help can be hard but it may also be well worth it. Seeking help from friends, us and family just a great thing to do. But you could also look into getting professional help from your doctor, a therapist, a CPN, an eating disorder specialist, a dietitian and a psychiatrist. You've just get to be honest and make them all aware of what's going on so you get the help you need. You don't deserve to be alone okay?

If you ever need to talk or anything then please feel free to PM me anytime. Happy New Year.

Hopes and wishes,
Jessie

I'm sorry your going through this.

An eating disorder hit all ages, sexes, and sizes. You don't have to be underweight to have an eating disorder. I am actually obese and I have EDNOS and Bulimia. You struggle with your eating and it could defiantly be an eating disorder. Or can turn in to one. I think the best thing to do before it gets so out of control is to seek help.
