Okay, this one might seem weird, but hear me out: I'm really inspired for recovery when I listen to "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri. Even if it's about a past relationship, I really see it as my past relationship as food, the way it's trying to come back in my life, and how I'm stronger than it. You probably all think I'm going mad, hahaha. But I use it to cheer me up. :hehe:

GAH I WRITE ON HERE TOO MUCH. Anyway, I found something really cool guys!

I hate to be advertising, please don't block me guys, but I found an app called Recovery Record for smart phones. Basically, it's an app that helps you keep track of your eating disorder recovery! It reminds you to eat and it rewards you when you are reaching your goals and treating yourself well. I sadly do not have a smartphone, but this does very well inspire me to get one. :nosweat: I just thought it would be cool for anybody interested.

Recovery App for android and IPhone users

There's an Eating Disorder Recovery app for the android and IOS devices called Recovery Record. You are able to log meals, write thoughts/feelings, pair up with other recovery record users, and so much more. If you live in the US or Aus, then you get an reward *not sure for android users* but I know for the people with IOS devices, you can get rewards from the app store for being active and logging meals. They also have very good coping tactics and reflections. It's worth a look.

Triggering:
This is an amazing video of Demi Lovato's struggles during her recovery. She does talk about SH and her Eating Disorder, along with her mental illness that lead her there, so I have labeled it as triggering just in case, but it is a very positive and inspiring video. :)

Body Gossip videos on YouTube. I did originally find them through this thread, but I'm linking another video from them that I found really inspirational: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHfkX...feature=relmfu

Could possibly be triggering. But it made me cry & gave me strength :)

I am loving this website, it has amazing articles on stuff about ED's.
This new article I love, it's about 5 ways to break free of the comparison game, getting ready for summer and not comparing yourself to others!

Take a look:

And remember to try not to compare your body to other peoples'.
(Easier said than done, but I'm gonna work on this, and hopefully you guys are up for it too. :))

Positivity. I know that's unspecific, but it's been so important to my recovery. Songs, quotes, photos, pictures, hugs, lists...anything. Even when you're feeling negative, try to be positive about it, by saying to yourself that the negativity won't last.

Keep going guys <3

It’s probably already been said, but oh well :) I think a great recovery song is ‘You Are More’ by Tenth Avenue North.
As for books I found ‘Monkey Taming’ by Judith Fathallah very genuine and real - I think you can identify with the characters well and it’s positive overall. Obviously any book about an eating disorder will be a bit of an unhappy read, at least partially, hey?

i LOVE the song "breathe me" by sia. it has an awesome piano part... and it also kinda describes a relapse for me ...

also, if you can find it, watch demi lovato's MTV movie thingy... i think it's called stay strong.. it's SO inspiring!

Bear with me, this could sound strange :hehe:

There's this song I LOVE by Sixx:AM called "Girl with Golden Eyes" it's about giving up heroin and becoming clean, but there's one part where it's like a diary, day one, day two ect. describing the withdrawal and stuff, but it reminds me a lot of giving up my eating disorder behaviors, and how it feels bad ect but gets better. Helped with my SH too. ;)

^This is my favorite blog, ever. She talks about REAL recovery, and I adore her. She's been a fountain of knowledge of knowledge to me. The "asks" contain a lot of numbers, and so it could be very triggering. But honestly, I think it's worth it, or at least it was in my case.

I haven't read that one, but I've read enough Melody Carlson to safely say that she's a terrible author and her books are really not worth reading. :/

Re: Positive books, songs, quotes, and more for ED Recovery!

I always listen to "Annie" by Safetysuit. It's about a girl (named Annie) who by all means, is no super model when it comes to looks, and yet she means so much to this one guy who's telling her that "looks don't make the world to round"/that looks don't mean everything. To this person, her smile lights up the room and she means the world to him.
Overall, we're all Annie, wanting to be beautiful yet not realizing the beauty we already have.
In my personal opinion, it's a real self-esteemed booster :)
