Maternity doctor or midwife?
Which do you think is better and why? What have your personal experiences with either been like?

A midwife is more personal.

Re: Maternity doctor or midwife?
I didn't really look into midwives too much... for the reason the person above me said actually. I don't know, I just wanted it to be MY pregnancy and MY delivery. I didn't want to get another person so involved in my business lol. I didn't want the "closeness" because to me it comes off too fake from midwives... even if its not fake at all hehe.
My doctor was careful, concerned, answered all my questions, did everything by the book, and delivered my son with no problems. Even though I was a first time mom, I was glad I was on my own from there. I wanted to bond with my child. Not my child and my doctor. |
Re: Maternity doctor or midwife?
I had my obgyn, and then two different doctors at delivery day, and 2 to 3 different nurses while in labor.
I LOVED my obgyn, she was great, and was practically like a second mother to me while I was pregnant. She even came by my hospital room around 9 pm the day I was in labor to see if I had delivered yet. Such a nice lady. If I can find another obgyn like her, I'd probably just stick with that.. I've heard horror stories of midwives and such haha. |

I haven't had a child but I know I'm going to want the drugs. GIVE ME THE DRUGS! Also I'd feel more comfotable with a doctor.
