Alcohol.

I feel like I'm addicted to alcohol. Whenever I walk past an alcoholic drink I have the urge to have it. But the fact that I've never been drunk before is what keeps me going to just walk past. I want to keep that status. The fact that I've never been drunk. Yet when I have a bottle in my hand I feel better about myself. I don't know how or why I feel that way. I just do. I don't drink heavily. At a party I would have one or two bottles with a space in the middle so nothing will happen.
So what can I do?

how often do you drink? would determine whether you have a drinking problem, you obviously dont have a problem with binge drinking which is really good, but you dont need to be a binge drinker to have an alcohol addiction, do you drink everyday? can you go 4 days without alcohol?

So you say you only have the urge when you "see" it?
I know when i see my mothers strawberry cheesecake once a month I HAVE TO have it. But i dont think about it unless its sitting on my kitchen counter.

From what im reading it doesn't seem like you are addicted. You mind seems to be understanding everything that is going on.
I have many friends who fiend on drinks when they are out at the clubs and parties but on any other day they dont drink at all. You dont do that so. So you dont binge. If you dont drink everyday then... it seems like you just enjoy your drinks just like any other person on the planet.

You should make a separate thread since it's not on the same subject matter. You'll probably get more replies that way too. :)

Maybe you're suffering from alcohol withdrawal symptom. I am not so sure but i think you should consult an expert.

Hey-

Honestly, at this point for you, I wouldn't be concerned about it. Keep it in your mind, know it's there and there is always the possibility for addiction. But I think me, along with most of my friends who drink, if we see a bottle we'll want it. But, it doesn't mean we're going to let it take control of our lives.

The biggest thing you can do to be careful, is make sure you never drink to make yourself feel better. Drinking is something that you have to do in moderation, or it can take over your life. But for many people it can be a once in a while thing. Don't drink every night, don't drink everything you see, and learn to say no when you need to.

If you're still concerned, and even if you aren't it's probably a good idea to talk to someone about how you're feeling about this who is kind of close to you. Someone you trust, and who would notice if things were getting out of hand and they would actually confront you about it. Me and my friends all have agreements that with alcohol or drugs, we will tell each other if one of us is taking it too far, and it's happened before.

Good luck. If you need anything let me know.
Maria.
