Hi there im not to sure what you want answered here. But mixing different substances can be very harmful or deadly. Make sure you have researched exactly what your a mixing and if in doubt at all ask a doctor/specialist.

so you want to mix alcohol and anti-depressants. what medications are you taking at the moment and what is the anti-depressant called?
once i know that i can help a bit more.

You should be very careful with alcohol if you're taking meds. Maybe keep your pills in a box, so when you've taken the meds for that day, it'll be empty and you'll know not to take alcohol.

Sassie, let me walk a fine line here and try to respond.

Generally speaking, my experience has been that 19 year olds ask this not so much b/c they're out for dinner at a fine restaurant and want a glass of vintage burgundy with their meal, but b/c they want to get slammed.

So, regardless of the medication your taking, this isn't a good idea, the interaction of the booze and the meds in your bloodstream can have bad effects, the specific ones depending on the specific meds, but regardless, not good. The typical response from docs is "Don't".

Talk with your doc about this, but generally speaking, you have to decide if you want to get better, or just get drunk.

Dr. Bobby, what would be the effect of mixing SSRIs with a glass of wine or a cup of beer? (My doctor, when I asked her, assumed I, too, was asking about getting drunk. I'm not. Do you understand why your post is patronizing? I don't know what the OP meant, but some of us just want to know whether or not we can have a good ole' glass of rosé. Fair enough?) I can't seem to find this information online.

Your depression gets worse. True story bro.

From what I've heard:
MAOI + Alcohol = death (not my experience lol)
Tricyclic + Alcohol = death (same)

All the rest I've tried.

SSRI + Alcohol = not much, slight intensification of "drunkenness"
SNRI + Alcohol = not much, ''
DNRI + Alcohol = dizziness, ''
Benzo's + Alcohol = somnolence, decreased inhibition, sleeping for a really fucking long time, coma
GABA/Neurontin (in overdose) + Alcohol = somnolence, reduced anxiety, nausea, lack of mental clarity.
