Hello Merideth,

Thank you for reaching out about questions you have about alcohol and how long it stays in your system (blood stream). It varies on person to person on how long alcohol stays in the body. Some of these are;
  1. Age, weight, sex, metabolism
  2. What you've ate and how much fluids you've had (water, juice, soda, etc.,)
  3. How many you've consumed
  4. The average length of which you've consumed the drink(s)
All these determine how long the typical alcohol level is in your blood stream and when alcohol takes any affect on your body. Usually any affects of alcohol will result in the following; slurred speech, impaired judgement, feeling wobbly (hard to walk straight) memory and comprehension.

That being said, the results of how long the blood alcohol in your body to reach depends on the following factors I've given. I'd say, the amount you've consumed would be out of your blood stream in 24/hrs to 48/hrs. You didn't drink too much and all alcohol would be out of your system by this time.

***Keep in mind that someone who drinks more and more frequently it can take longer or shorter, it depends on the factors I provided above (about what factors that can affect your body and alcohol) for alcohol levels to not be in your blood stream.

Merideth, I want to ensure that you are aware of the current laws in your state about drinking and the age to consume alcohol. The legal age is 21 and your profile shows you are 16. The laws are in place for varies reasons and one is that you are still growing and developing. I want to make it aware for you to know this information.

If you have anymore information, Merideth, please let me know, okay?

I hope this has answered your questions, if you have anymore questions feel free to post back or PM me.

Take Care.

In addition to what has already been said, if this is a blood test for medical purposes they don't typically test blood alcohol levels. I'm pretty sure it'd have to be a specific test for that purpose. The only thing that may show it on a normal blood panel would be liver function and that would really only show it if you drank in excessive amounts very often and had liver damage.

If you drank it 2-3 weeks ago then it will already be gone. Usually alcohol would be in your system for no longer than 2 days, usually less than 24hrs depending on how much you drink.

Your liver will burn up the alcohol at the rate of 1 drink per hour- unless you are a heavy drinker (then it would burn 2 drinks per hour). However, what a blood test will pick up on is a particular metabolite of alcohol. This takes longer to clear, and the time that it takes to pass will vary based on your unique metabolism and how heavy a drinker you are. It will vary from 24 hours to 3-5 days. If you drank 2-3 weeks ago and haven't since, you are likely to be fine.

Probably be gone; can I ask what the blood test is for? They may not even check that depending on what they are looking for.

Yeah i second this. Doctors will not test for drugs or alcohol in a standard urine or blood screen.

It's out of your system. Alcohol is metabolized very quickly.

Hey :)

As others have said, the alcohol will be out of your system right now but what is worrying me is that you're worried it won't be. It feels like you're hiding something and not wanting people to know? What are the blood tests for if you don't mind me asking?

If there is something troubling you, please feel free to talk to us any time, we're here to help you and I wouldn't ever want you to be alone :)

Hope you're well,
Jessie
