Do your parents know about TH?
I know there was a thread like this sometime in 2012, but I am really curious seeing there are so many new users now :p
So, do your parents know that you use TeenHelp? My parents don't know and I probably won't be telling them anytime soon. |

My parents would not be pleased if they knew about TH at all so definitely not!

My mom almost for sure saw the site opened in my browser multiple times, but she doesn't speak English so I doubt she knows much.
And my father doesn't care about me so I'd say none of them knows. |

I haven’t told my mum I go on TH, but when I’m downstairs on my laptop, and she is sitting next to me, I’m convinced she must have seen the forums page. But she hasn’t mentioned it. Whenever I’m replying to threads, chat or on HelpLINK, she just asks if I’m talking to my best friend XD |

My parents know, cuz when I first started using the site they were in the stage of monitoring things I viewed on the internet. THAT was a fun time xD

I have TH on a Chrome thumbnail and it's likely my mum's seen it but I can't be sure.

Both of my parents know, they found out on accident. They know that I volunteer here. I keep pretty much everything private too so they wouldn't be able to see anything. But, they know this is my safe place and they've agreed to stay off the site.

My dad knows I volunteer jere. He doesn't know the specific Web address but he knows I volunteer for a website and knows what it's for. He's seen me on here when I've been in chat and on helplink.

My mom saw it on my laptop once and asked me about it and also told my dad about it but I'm pretty sure they forgot about it by now. :p

My mom knows because when I first got sick she, I assumed, went through my laptop and asked me about it. She doesn't really care that I'm here anymore as long as it doesn't "bother me." Which it doesn't since I know to avoid what triggers me. :)

I don't think my parents know, i'm sure they've seen it on my laptop screen but have never questioned it luckily.

My parents don't know, and I will not be telling them. If they were to find out it would be interesting..
Although I know my mom is on forums, or rather was and she still keeps in contact with her friends on there via FB and texting. I don't think she would mind as much as my dad would, but neither would be pleased that I am in here so they will not find out. |

No. By the time I became a regular member, I was 17/18 and my parents didn't care about what I did. :p I've seen no reason to tell them.

No. I haven't told either of my parents. However, I have told my father I am apart of an online community. He didn't like that and he had some negative things to say about it :(

Yes, my mom knows. She is always constantly telling me not to put personal info on TH. "I'm like, I know that my mom." :p

No no no. They once found out I was on a website talking about my problems, but they never knew what website. They told me to stop, and I never did.

Honestly not sure. They know I've been on websites like this but as for this particular 1, probably not, but it's possible.

Not really. My mother knows I used to use it when I was a teenager but I'd say she's long since forgotten, thank god. :p

My mom doesn't know and my dad kind of knows. When I was moving into my dorm room my freshman year of college, he was fixing my computer and making sure it was connected to the internet (basically just making sure that my computer was all set up). When we were both alone because my mom had to use the bathroom at the time, he questioned me about it and I lied about what the site is about and he really didn't believe me and he thought it was a site about mental health (which TH is a site about mental health, etc), but I didn't tell him what the site is actually about and after that he never questioned me about it again.
Every time I'm on the computer and I'm on TH, my dad sometimes questions me what I am doing, but I lie to him saying I am talking to my best friend. |

They know I am staff on this site and that's i love helping people. They don't know all the shit I say on the site though

No. I've been using forums since I was 16 and I've basically hid that I have used any kind of forum from anyone I know in real life. I'm kind of glad I did but reading old posts I made years ago, I wouldn't ever want anyone knowing half the things I've posted.

My parents know that I use Teenhelp as they've walked in on me using it but I'm not sure if they remember or not haha.

I kept TH out of their knowledge for several years, but they finally found out and they weren't happy. Mom in particular went on a huge and completely ridiculous rant about how "If I ever gave an underage kid advice, and they took my advice, I could easily get sued and put in jail because I'm over 18 now." :rolleyes:
What does she think I'm gonna tell our users to do, anyway? Make meth? :rolleyes: The only one who knows about it and maintains a good relationship with me over it is my fiancé. He's very supportive toward what I do on here, so he's the only one who really knows anything. |

Pfff. My mom gave up on trying to monitor my web browsing a long time ago. She's not modern enough to keep up with my laptop in the first place. :p |

Mine don't. If it ever happens to come up in a conversation I wouldn't mind telling them. I think they'd be surprised if they found out.

I'm one of the lucky ones whose parents don't care about them in that way.
So I'm not sure for two reasons. There is enough evidence online to show what I'm up to and what I suffer from. Either they didn't bother or know but don't really understand the concept of this site. For sure, my mom knows though. I've told her lots of stories found/experienced on this site. Then again she doesn't entirely or at all understand the concept of such a place. Not that it matters. Pure apathy is a clear sign of lack of knowledge as you all might know. I can't say pure apathy maybe... She's been telling me to quit the site for the past months because of the kinds and varieties of people present (talking about this site). But it's only lately and I've been here for over 4 years. It's not that serious beyond the stage of somewhat ignorant. |

My parents found out fairly soon after I joined a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure they've forgotten/don't think I use it anymore

Only person who knows I use TeenHelp is my boyfriend. He supports me 100% and he admires me for being a volunteer. XD
I've mentioned it to a few friends, but they most likely forgot. |

Haha, so they found out about it in the first month I was on (back in 2012) and they thought I had stopped then.
Yeah obviously I didn't but... I'm glad I didn't actually. TH is so wonderful, I'm always sorry when I don't come on very often :unsure: |

Back in the summer of 2012 my sisters found out and I know this because later I found out they were looking through my emails and found chat conversations that I saved and had sent to myself. So after they found out and pressured me to say what the site was called, I ended up telling them. Two sisters even made an account. One secretly lolz and one bombarding me with every little question they had. -,- My dad might've found out along the way. Whenever he passed by my computer screen, he could have caught a glimpse or one of my sisters told him about it in an accusatory way- probably before they made an account themselves.
I think he doesn't know what the site is called but he refers to it as "speaking to strangers on the internet" >.< and expressed disapproval in other not so nice names. Gee thanks, pops. I'll be the judge of whether someone is a stranger or not. You don't get to decide that for me. |
