I told my parents, but...

I'm suicidal, and I told my mom.... She said I was attention seeking and stupid, and that I haven't had a hard enough life to warrant feeling the way that I do. I am breathing right now only because of my best friend. I don't want to hurt him. But I don't know what to do about my mother. It was so difficult telling her at all, but then it hear that was a huge blow to what was already hurting, and now I feel worse than ever.
It's illegal (well, maybe that's not the right word, but they for sure won't admit me) where I live to go to a hospital and get help without her permission, which, obviously, I don't have. So, if anyone has any ideas on what I should do about her, that's be cool.... I only have 2.5 more years living with her, and I just don't know if I'm going to make it that long.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, my mom reacted pretty much the same way, all 3 times I tried to tell her. Is there anyone else you could try? I eventually learned to keep it to myself, but I wouldn't suggest that for too long. Maybe try the school counselor once school starts? They would have to tell her, but they might be able to give you some credibility. Where I live, it's legal for a minor to see a therapist for a certain number of sessions without parental consent, but I don't know if it would be the same where you are.

 Hello foster . I get the feeling that if you need help, you're entitled to help and assistance without telling your mother or getting approval from her, because everyone deserves to be helped and listened to. You have clearly went through a lot, and I don't think you deserve to go through these negative thoughts alone.

+1 to you because everyone deserves assistance and support, and you deserve to be helped, loved and cared for. I also think that if she really cares about you, she should be happy that you're getting better instead.

If you need a friend or just someone to listen to you, I'll be around.

Hey Foster,

I'm really sorry that your mum reacted that way. I agree with an above poster that you could try seeing the school counsellor once school starts, but if the country you're living in has suicide hotlines or hotlines for teenagers, maybe you could call them and they would be able to help you outline the options that are available, given your age and where you live. I don't know where you live, but the TeenHelp site does have a list of such hotlines in a few countries: http://www.teenhelp.org/hotlines/

I hope this helped somewhat, and feel free to PM me if you ever need to talk!

Kyra :)

I will and please let us know how it went! :)
Always remember that you deserve to get better no matter how hard the progress and never let anyone stand in the way of your happiness.

Tell your physician, he or she will talk to you, then determine whether or not you are a danger to yourself and admit you. Do you have a physician?

If not you could probably tell the ER physician this too and they will admit you for observation and determine the next steps.

Hey foster

What mean words your mom chose to use! Does she also have a loving & caring side.

I know (what your going through) because I have been in your shoes. My advice is even when you become frustrated with your mom, treat here well (you will thank me later).

Listen to each fuckin word your mom chooses to say.
