Hey Flight!

Thanks for your best wishes with Maman. She's getting better for my version of shrimp pad thai: 9 on the richter scale hot. I'll be posting the recipe in a mo.

The doc switched her antibiotics, and they're working so much better. Hopefully she'll be better before the week's out.

Yes thanks! One of my fam's friends in America gave us the recipe for an ayurvedic drinkcalled 'kaada' using cardamom, clove, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, black pepper, a pinch of turmeric and a few Tulsi leaves.

Tomorrow I'll post the reviving drink's recipe up. It really hepled Maman's sore throat, almost a healing drink in itself.

Though nothing would beat a sip o' cask strenght Lagavulin! ;)

Her doc switched antbiotics to some better ones. We'll kno in a couple of days.

Thank you for asking! :)

If I may ask, does she have a bad throat or is it something else?

Hopefully those new antibiotics work for her!

What began began as a sore throat wet to her sinus area below her rihght eye and her glands swelled, also right hand side. She feels better this morning which is mostly thanks to her antibiotics, what were switch to Phenoxymethyl-penicillin as per this info: https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/phenoxymethylpenicillin/

These are film-coated, taken at least 30 minutes before food.

Thankfully Maman has no allergy or intolerance to Penicillin. It's also being very effective. This morning despite not being a morning person she's feeling remarkably chipper. :D

Recipe for sore throat drink; pick-me-up: KAADA

Hi Wendi,

Glad to know that your Maman is feeling better now; I sincerely wish her a speedy recovery.

Kadha is certainly great for sore throats. It also helps to chew on a couple of cloves whole slowly, allowing them to release their amazing, anti-inflammatory essential oils. I've had my share of awful sore throats when I was younger, when I'd fall ill frequently, so I know how painful they can be. These home remedies help a lot.

The antibiotics are a good option too since the doctor has recommended them. Be sure to ensure that she finishes the full course of antibiotics as recommended; finishing the course of prescribed antibiotics is generally advised even if one is feeling better :D

Take care!

Thanks Mallika for your helpful advice with those antibiotics. I've had them myself for a similar infec', and they cleared up in no time. Ike Maman intends, so I finished the course. I'm grateful we hvaed a good doctor.

I knew clove has antiseptic properties and is good to lower tooth pain an inflammation in the mouth. The oil what comes from these tiny little things is amazing, but whne I have her put in her mouth, I 'rub off the clove's sharp edges.

I love kaada and sip it more often now since sweetening it a little with honey instead of sular.

I prefer honey for sweetening instead of sugar any time.

Thank you much @Celyn Her doctor visited this afternoon and gave her some more of the better antibiotics. She doesn't need to do anything other than read and rest. This morning I made her breakfast in bed which cheered her up no end.

Maman is no overly demanding. She knows I'm out all day looking after our sheep. This afternoon I mended some hazel hurdles strenghtening them with willow, then I made repairs to the roof of our barn and patched up some drafty nooks where our animals like to shelter, specially our goats. They no like drafts! This evening my partner brought home more bales more hay. Keep our goats happy, too.

I wonder if we'll hvae snow this winter?

As much as I enjoy snow, I don't think I'd want any this year. Snow and ice prevent me from getting to work and if I can't get to work, I can't make money. :nosweat:

Still nice to look at and take pictures of though. Plus the nice fluffy look of untouched snow. :)

Yes, I'll agree, and many others wouldn't welcome snow, but I love snowy pictures. Our animals dislike freezing cold weather and it's no fun being outdoors all day mending fences and the like. But I'd love to be back in Switzerland skiing again. One day. :)

Perhaps you will soon. Fingers crossed the COVID vaccine rollout works as hoped and things can return to normal in the next 12-18 months!

Hopefully sooner for everyone's sanity. Vaccines won't be rolled out for people my age and 20 to 30's until, I reckon, spring. And we have Brexit and the chaos it is certainly going to bring.

Having stoked up with a roaring good table of Indian food, tomorrow's roast beckons. Maman's eyes are fixed on a joint lurking in the fridge, and I've been promised goose fat to roast our taters fit for Her Majesty.:dem:
