Because today, I spoke to Robert for the first time. Who is Robert? Robert is the boy who rides route 48. He sits there, wearing his North Face, listening to music on his iPhone, with his Swiss made backpack at his legs. But Robert can't speak. He can only sign, and when he listens to his music he starts to grunt. People scoot away from him, thinking something is wrong with him, when really, he is mouthing the words in his own way. Today though, on the bus ride home, he sat 2 seats away from me, took out his iPhone and wrote "What's your name" and showed it to me. I talked to him the whole bus ride home, and just by doing that simple act, this light lit up in his eyes, for someone was treating him like they treat everyone else.

A customer where I work (I've known him for a while) asked for my phone number...and we have plans to have coffee on Saturday! Even if it doesn't go anywhere, he's a great guy and I'd love to get to know him better.
