Gift someone something new
I really enjoy giving gifts to others. I spend a lot of time and effort finding the perfect gift for somebody. Sometimes it can take months of planning out what to get beforehand just to make sure it's right.
This month marked both my uncle and mum's birthday. My uncle is always the most difficult to buy for because he doesn't really have anything he likes to do outside of watching things on Netflix/Amazon Prime. Sometimes he will spend time in his electronics room... but I can't really buy anything regarding that. Sometimes I've bought things for his car or maybe an Amazon gift card but after a while they seem too repetitive. This year I decided to buy him a new mobile phone. His current one is getting really old and slow, so I decided now was a great time for a new one. He instantly switched from his old one to the new one and said he liked that it has a fingerprint scanner on it as it was much easier to unlock than his older one. Plus it's got a bigger screen and is faster so he can watch things on his phone. My mum is by far the easiest family member to buy for. I know exactly what to get her every time. This time I decided to gift her an experience rather than something tangible. I was going to take her for a few days out travelling across Wales, but we've been having a heatwave and having to travel by train wasn't exactly ideal, so we went to a beach in Wales and visited some of their coffee shops, as well as generally wandered around taking pictures of our day out. I feel like it wasn't as good as her last visit there but at least it was definitely a way of getting her out of the house. It was also the first time she'd been out of the house and that far away since before the whole situation with Covid so said she felt a bit nervous being on the train. She decided she didn't want to go anywhere else though, so we only went out the one day and stayed at home the next as it was too hot anyway. Have you thought about gifting someone something new? What kinds of things do you enjoy gifting to others? |

I never know what to get anyone! Even my 8 year old niece never knows what she wants. I don't want to get people useless things. Agh. D:

Re: Gift someone something new
I'm the sort of person that would rather ask someone what they want then surprise them as they might not like that I get them. Same thing with me. I'd rather someone ask me what I want then rather be gifted with something I may not like (I know, I know, it's the thought that counts!).

Re: Gift someone something new
I absolutely love giving gifts! I always make something special for birthdays, but I also get gifts for people I care about when I'm on trips, or to celebrate their successes, or to comfort them. <3

I find giving gifts to people really amazing and really stressful at the same time. D:
I always try and make my gifts personal, and I hate buying people things like vouchers because it doesn't feel like any thought has gone into it. I usually end up scrolling for days and days through etsy to find something which I think they'll really love. |
Re: Gift someone something new
I used to keep a list of 'present ideas' for my family and friends, but gave up with that. Now, if I see things throughout the year that I think might be good for a birthday or christmas, I'll look for it online and bookmark it instead. Or if someone has expressed that they really like something, I'll try and remember it and look for it later.
Normally, I'd try and get each person at least one present and then some chocolate but I'm rethinking that as it does get difficult trying to think of what to get each person and making sure that I'm spending the same on each person. Seeing as my family and I have spent more time playing board games this year, I'm thinking of investing in a slightly more expensive board game and having it shared between us all instead. It'll be different but seeing as none of us really want much for Christmas nor know what we want then it should be worth it as we should all get some enjoyment and entertainment out of it :) |
Re: Gift someone something new
I have different kinds of people in my life. Some just want expensive gifts, others want to see how much I care.
I treat every person differently. For example, recently, my friend was leaving for London so I bought her a jacket of her favorite color. She absolutely loved it because she needed that. Another friend had a birthday last week and I made a customized gift box for her. The box had multiple layers and each layer had a thoughtful message and pictures of us together tied with her favorite chocolates. I used cardboard, ribbons, and sheets of her most likeable colors to make sure everything was impeccable. She literally burst out in tears after looking at the amount of hard work and love I put into her gift. |
Re: Gift someone something new
you can surprise your Valentine with a phone and help her take her selfie game a notch higher. Valentine's Day is all about giving more than taking and a super cool phone could be the best gifting option to win her heart all over again.

Re: Gift someone something new
I will always find something particular for that person. Even it's a little, stupid thing, but I know that person is searching that specific thing, so I will find something that perfectly fits.

Re: Gift someone something new
A gift is the most difficult in any event. Personally for me to choose a gift is very difficult since I do not know what a person needs and whether he likes it. I think it would be better to find out what kind of hobby the person you want to give something to has. For example, my friend is engaged in filming, so I thought I’d get him an accessory. In the store, was editedand I took it and it turned out to be a very cool thing. Give your friends what they need.
