Re: Your Religious and/or Spiritual Beliefs

agnostic. I believe god could exist but that there is no proof, I mainly don't believe either that god exists or doesn't exist because both ways don't(or do...(if you want to know what I mean ask)) make sense for the same reason. I was raised as a christian but have always doubted christian beliefs (and yet have never told my grandma).

My parents raised me to be Christian. Indonesian society teaches me to believe in God, and it is a must up to the point your religion will be written on your ID. I am not sure whether to believe in God or not, but I have been forced to pray.

i am spinozian. i do not believe in mysticism but i do believe in the so-called "supernatural" but i believe this is just a term for anything of ultraterrestrial origion. to me, it all ties in to string theory and noetical science. i believe in a "universal architect" and i believe in the divinity of logic. basically, i am religious insofar as i have a sense of reverence for that which i cannot understand and for that which is bigger than myself, much like einstein

When I became adopted, I decided to follow my mother in becoming Russian Orthodox. It was by far the wisest most pain-free decision which I've never regretted because the friendship in this church since I was baptised into the faith has been wonderfully supportive. :)

Hellenist, although lately I have incorporated Bloodbound Jashinism into my religion as it is something I firmly believe in in addition to the Greek pantheon. So I guess it's kind of dual faiths, although I usually try to worship them together.

Not really sure any more... I was a practising Christian until about 18 months ago but now I'm not sure if the god I believe in is the Christian god or if god is the god of any religion/faith...

Re: Your Religious and/or Spiritual Beliefs

I'm Roman Catholic. But I guess you could say that I'm not traditional. I consider myself to be a spiritual person and I cherish my beliefs with God. However, I do not stand by everything that "The Catholic Church" does and I am a science fanatic. I love learn about how organisms and systems (organ to cosmic) work. I believe that while things are random to us such as the creation of our solar system, God did it. God rolls the ball, but balls don't always stay on course. They teeter. I was raised in the Catholic Church, looking back I was agnostic and it wasn't until I was about 13/14 that I was "called". To me, there shouldn't be strict, rigidity when it comes to religion. And for Christians, Jesus is the personal Savior, so how can it personal unless each person makes it there own. Oh, I also think the idea of a Pope is sort of dumb, that there are corrupted finances, abortion is any child-bearing persons choice and neither the church nor the state should have their heads up my twat and in my uterus. I don't hate anyone or avoid them just for what they believe or don't believe. You never know what goes on inside a person and some of the most morally outstanding people are atheists. Religion can influence your moral code but religion is NEVER synonymous with morality. And so long as you are respectful to me about mine, I will be about yours... For instance don't call my God a fictional character or tell me that Jesus was this or that and the bible is really blah blah blah. That's really rude and actually quite hurtful. And Islamic, Jewish, and Christian people are all praying to the same God. So y'all need to stop being stupid like for real. Tolerance is an important concept.

Re: Your Religious and/or Spiritual Beliefs

Used to be an unorthodox protestant christian, I had God in my heart, but I'm not doing things His way, but my way, I don't go to church (In fact, I fucking dispise going to church), I swear a lot (And I hate censoring). My more orthodox christian friends are giving me some flack about it, but that's being a judgemental asshole.

Now I'm shifting to agnostic, because there is lack of proof that a god exsists, but I'm open to it if there is a correct religion. I don't judge christians or anyone with an religion unless they judge me because of that religion, then they should get it coming to them.

Honestly, my theory for why there are so many atheists on this website is because after dealing with so many problems, they realized they wanted to believe in something they could see, that produced near-immediate results; like a self-help site half-full of struggling teens. No offense meant, but thats what I actually think.
In other news, Ive adopted a Buddhist philosophy of general peacefulness and tolerance. Im adding the philosophy, trying to meditate and discover myself, but Im still a Catholic

Re: Your Religious and/or Spiritual Beliefs

My parents raised a christian. My society raised a atheist.
But I'm other. I believe in a higher force but not like a God. Maybe a more developed alien species. I cant fanthom that we're alone in the vast reaches of space.
I believe in evolution. I believe in science.
I dont believe in God, nor angles or demons. I dont believe in hell and I dont believe in heaven. I dont believe in the Bible, in the Kur'an or in something else.
Some people say theres something more we cannot see. I agree. There is no evidence that proves that there isnt an alien sitting by me, but i cannot see, hear, touch or smell him. Some people say that they believe in what they can see, smell, hear or touch. I think those people lack the necessary brain power. You cannot touch, smell, hear or see x-rays, gamma waves, wifi signals. Half of the technology works that way.

Believing in a higher force some may call God, that I can do. But I wouldnt call him a God. I would call it a civilization, or an individual with such knowledge that we will never be able to understand. That I can believe.
But I believe he is also humble to say that he is only another organism, he is just immortal and timeless.
I do not know what is out there. People believe what they are thought to believe, and what they want to believe.
Because of religion, wars raged, people were killed, women were defiled, children were tortured and buried and cities were destroyed. All because the human race is so stupid, so selfish, so blind and so arrogant that our own progress will be our grave.
To as why we exist, I also do not know.
Humans are parasites. We cannot exist without a planet with a suitable atmosphere, but our planet can live without us. We destroy forests, we pollute rivers, we drain lakes, we cause earthquakes, we are the reason the world is unbalanced.
"We torture and kill two billion sentinent living beings every week. 10,000 entire species are wiped out every year because of actions of one, and we are now facing the sixth mass extinction in cosmological history. If any other organism did this, a biologist would consider them a virus." - Philip Wollen

But after all, we are all only human. A organism with 300 trillion cells, existing on a piece of rock, lesser than a grain of sand in a desert, destined for a few quick trips around a little star, untill our existence is extinquished.

That is what I believe in.

Christian.
I also put "undecided", but that's just because there's a lot of things I still need to work out with my religion.
I'm not very Biblically educated, so I'm not sure I truly understand some things I've heard about from the Bible.
And the doubt that a deity exists at all is still sitting there, lingering quietly in the back of my mind.
But too many strange things have happened to me for me not to believe. I've had strange/disturbing visions, dreams, and even seen some things in real life that are simply unexplainable.

I think I voted on this a long time ago, but I could quite remember what I had voted and said.

I changed my vote to other since I'm a Baptist and I was baptized a Baptist. So, I have been a Baptist my whole life. I'm not a crazy church going person, as I haven't gone to church in a few weeks. However, I do believe and God and I read the Bible from time to time.

I marked myself as pagan, wiccan, and undecided. I normally tell people I'm pagan because I don't specifically follow the wiccan path even though I pull from a lot of their beliefs and practices I'm not dedicated to that religion. I suppose I'm most closely labeled as an eclectic witch. I do practice like a witch but I pull from different spiritual beliefs and practices and do whatever works for me at the time. It changes as I change, which is why I choose undecided because there are still things I'm unsure about and that I'm open to changing if it doesn't work for me. Sorry if this sounds confusing, it's confusing for me too. :bleh:

I'm areligious. I disagree with the concept of religion, as I believe it closes one's mind, forcing it to believe set rules, that explain origin and purpose of elements of the world. I prefer freely discovering, researching and thinking those through, being able to form my own opinion and point of view that I agree most with.

I'm atheist but I don't hate people who are religious. My beliefs are in science and the theory of the big bang and evolution etc. But religions do have things we can all learn from them. I'm not saying 100% of the Bible is Bang on and I'm not saying everyone should follow the Qur'an but there are teachings from a variety of faiths and religions we can all take a leaf out of.

I'm nothing in particular, though I have very strong Hellenist roots, and have nothing but the utmost respect for the Gods and the Delphic Maxims. When I'm in need of prayer, I pray to members of the Greek pantheon.

I guess you could say I'm a non-practicing Hellenist. I'm building a house, so I'm honoring the agathos daemon of the land I'll inhabit. I'll probably have a shrine to Hekate somewhere on my property, and a general shrine. Cleverly disguised, of course, so I don't freak out my family.
