I need more music :) my ipod looks lonely

And last.fm is starting to recommend me lame bands/singers :p Preferably rock or pop. I'm starting to listen to Paramore, Placebo, Evanescence, Miley Cyrus, Flyleaf, 30 Seconds to Mars etc. a lot lately :)

Happy/uplifting songs please because I realised last night how bloody depressing 80% of my ipod really is O_____o

Flyleaf and Paramore. Awesome choices.

Anyways, I listen to a lot of Switchfoot's new stuff, which has some pretty uplifting songs (especially off of Hello Hurricane) with a dash of some depressing stuff, but a healthy dose for some reality.

Maybe try Nightwish out? Think Evanescence but with a bit more orchestral involvement. Best album to date they have in my opinion is Dark Passion Play. First track, The Poet and the Pendulum, is a masterpiece. Once again, some uplifting stuff, some depressive, but both in healthy doses for reality.

Hm... as for exclusively uplifting songs, I'd have to go for Family Force 5 >.< My friends got me hooked, and they're the only ones that come to mind. For a bit more, er, mature-ish band, I'd go for some Trust Company or possibly Rise Against if you like their styles.

Flight of the Conchords are quite amusing.

Not really sure what you'd put under the "lame" category, so do forgive me if any of the following are not to your taste :p:

Goo Goo Dolls, Elliot Minor, Fall Out Boy, Lostprophets, Kings of Leon, The Feeling, Ingrid Michaelson, Metro Station, Rusted Root, Sum 41... Kate Nash, KT Tunstall, Katie Melua...

Failing that, go and buy Now 74 or a Christmas compilation CD, I'm sure that will cheer you up!

I have a very diverse taste in music, and over two thousand songs, but I tried to go through and pick some out that may appeal to you. I'll give only artist names, because I feel it's important to find songs that match your personal style within an artist, not mine. :) Hope you enjoy!

The Classic Crime
The Rocket Summer
Mayday Parade
All Time Low
The Almost
The Script
Farewell
Every Avenue
The Maine
The Cab
A Change of Pace
Runner Runner
A Rocket to the Moon

If you're looking for a particularly uplifting song, listen to Pretty Rave Girl by I Am X-Ray. I don't know if you ever met or talked to markasaurusREX, an old user here, but he got me hooked on this song and it's very much his uplifting style.

Also, there's a website you could check out: www.tastekid.com

Type in artists' names you enjoy, and it provides a whole list of others you may like. Some of them suck, but a lot of them are pretty head on.

Good luck, happy music-ing! :bleh:

Tenth Avenue North
Hit The Lights
Owl City

If you like 30STM, at least their older stuff- try Angels and Airwaves (their bassist Matt Wachter used to be in 30STM). They're amazing, and you might like them.

Switchfoot is a good suggestion. Also check out Plain White Ts, All Time Low (PWTs and ATL are both kinda pop-rock), and Lifehouse (I guess similar to Switchfoot... sorta alternative, I think they're technically Christian but they're awesome whatever you believe in). If you like pop-punk (I'm not sure if I'd call most pop-punk "uplifting" but in general it's just great, upbeat music), check out Blink-182 (the albums "Dude Ranch", "Enema of The State", and "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" in particular), New Found Glory, some of the older stuff by Simple Plan and Good Charlotte, Mest (I recommend the albums "Destination Unknown" and "Wasting Time"). Oh, and Sugarcult is great, too- they're powerpop/alternativeish (some people say they're pop-punk although I'm not sure I agree with that description). You might like The Goo Goo Dolls and Cute is What We Aim For.

If you don't mind music that's a little "older", check out Tom Petty (rock), Oasis (rock, definitely very Beatles-influenced- you might like the album "Don't Believe The Truth"), and Cheap Trick (powerpop/pop-rock).

Okay, my first thought--RUN FAR AWAY FROM MILEY CYRUS. There are plenty of happy songs without resorting to her...gah.

Ahem. Anyways, I would recommend these songs/artists for happy music:

Funhouse-P!nk
Bad Influence-P!nk
Lots of Lady Gaga :)
Bob Marley!
Cherry Lips-Garbage
Band of Skulls (not all of their stuff is sad)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (their earlier stuff is quite beat-y, but Californication and the like are very lyrical though a bit sad)
K-OS!
Brendan Benson
Lily Allen
Tegan and Sara
The Killers

:D That's all I got.

She's Got A Boyfriend Now - Boy's Like Girls (Very upbeat and not what the title would have you expecting)
Weightless - All Time Low
Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't) - All Time Low

Yeah... so I hoped that helped you a little(;
