Re: Delaying Your Period

If you are on the 21 day pill, you can continue onto your next packet without taking your week break and you won't have a period. My doctor has told me this is okay to do if say you are going on holidays or maybe you have exams and don't want the added emotions :P Also, I don't think it's something that should be done every single month. A side effect of me doing this though is that I find I have extremely bad cramps the next time my period is due.

You can get a pill from the doctor that will delay your period. You'll have to take a pill a day (or I did). It only works for so long though (mine was delayed for a week).

My period is due next week and I rather not get it until the week after and I can't get into the doctor this week :(

Other than hormonal contraceptives, there's really no way to delay your period in a for-sure manner. I'd recommend considering getting on a pill method where this is an option!

Not really. And even if you try to do the packs, there is always the chance for breakthrough bleeding especially as you haven't been on them.

You can delay your periods with the pill. I'm on it and I always know exactly when my period will be. It can also make them lighter and easier to deal with. I'm not sure if it's healthy to just take the hormones and not allow your body to have a period so I would talk to a doctor first about that. :)

Even with birth control you can't guarentee anything. Without birth control, your period will happen when it happens.

Personally whenever I tried using birth control to skip my period by just not taking the 1 week break, eventually I would break through any how - I have only managed to delay it by 2-3 weeks... So it doesn't work for everyone.

Like Laura said, you can get a pill from the doctor. Its better you to talk to a doctor about this, because its not really advisable to just take hormones to delay your periods.

The shot isn't the same as the normal pill. It is normal for the shot to stop your period. It is NOT normal to never get your period on the pill.

If you do not want to get birth control then you probably can't delay your period
