Am I pregnant?

Forgive me if I sound like a total idiot. I just have horrible anxiety and this has been eating away at me. I have my first boyfriend and things are getting serious and we fooled around in his car on Sunday night. We gave each other hand jobs and he went down on me. I started what appears to be my period yesterday (Tuesday) but I am still terrified there is a chance his pre ejaculate got on me and I could get pregnant. Neither of us actually finished because we had to go home, so he didn’t actually ejaculate, but I am still nervous that sperm from his pre ejaculate got on the same hand that touched me. I am having a little less bleeding than normal for my period that is normally pretty heavy, but no cramps which is not normal for me at all. Could something be going on or do I have my period? Do I need to take an emergency contraceptive? As I write this I feel like I sound like an idiot but I’m anxious out of my mind.
Thank you

I don't think the contraceptive will work now. :(
First do a pregnancy test to be sure if possible!

Thank you for reaching out to us about this! You certainly don't sound like an idiot. The possibility of being pregnant can be scary and it's understandable that you're feeling some anxiety about it.

If you've already started your period, it's unlikely that you're pregnant. Even though you've noticed some differences in your cycle in comparison to the past, that doesn't necessarily mean trouble! As we get older, our cycles can change, including timing, how heavy or light the flow is, and any other symptoms (cramps, headaches, fatigue, etc.) that we typically associate with our periods. Additionally, sex can also have an impact on the flow of our periods, particularly if you engaged in it fairly close to when you would normally start your period.

While taking a contraceptive pill wouldn't be helpful at this point (with the exception of Plan B the morning after sex), you can always take a pregnancy test if that would help ease your mind. They're available at most pharmacies and stores such as Target or Walmart may also have them. Depending on where you're located, you can always Google what stores in your area have them available. Taking a pregnancy test may give you a little bit of added peace surrounding the possibility of pregnancy.

I hope this helped some! Please feel free to reply to this thread or shoot me a PM if you have any other questions or would like to talk about this further. :)

I ended up getting my period, it was normally heavy and I had cramps as I normally do. It lasted for a week. Is there any chance of pregnancy? Like I said, we did not have actual vaginal sex nor did he actually ejaculate. I am still nervous because I am having some lower abdominal pain right now that is likely entirely unrelated

It’s not likely that you’re pregnant since you got your period and didn’t actually have vaginal sex. If you want to test you can for peace of mind but you should be okay.

Re: Am I pregnant?

The fact that you got your period makes it highly unlikely that you're pregnant. The fact that you didn't have vaginal sex also greatly reduces that risk, although I can understand why you were concerned. If it would help ease your mind, you still have the option of taking a pregnancy test, just to be sure.
