When/did you parents tell you about sex/puberty?

I'm curious. Mine actually never said anything about sex :bleh: My mum told me what a period was when I was 12 but I knew what it was anyway. I thought it was a bit stupid telling me at that age as there was a chance I could have had a period before I was 12 :|

My parents have never told me anything about sex. Had to learn it on my own.

I already knew about sex and they never told me anyways. I know way more about sex than my mom does. Recently, my mom asked me what BDSM is. :nosweat:
My mom talked about puberty and gyno exams when I was really young. Like 5 or 6 maybe? |

My parents have always been quite open about things like this and have always been fine with telling me from a young age.

Never. Every time my mum tried to, I stuck my fingers in my ears, and said "lalalalalala" loudly, to save us both the embarrassment :L

@Kitty, I had to explain to my mum what a clitoris was O____O that was a barrel of laughs.

My parents never talked about sex or puberty.
My mom offered to give me the sex talk, but I was already in my teens I think lol. Not to mention, I had an older sister so I always heard her and her friends talking about things... so I have always been ahead of the game when it comes to knowledge about sex :nosweat: Quote:

I'd be lost and miserable if I didn't know what my clitoris was. |

I don't want to know lololololol. I have no idea how she knows so little about sex when she has two children :|

My mom told me about Sex and Puberty at 8. She wouldn't of unless I asked her what was Humping and what were condoms. I heard it in school and my mom knew that the jig was up. XD

Re: When/did you parents tell you about sex/puberty?

I never got "the talk", not even about puberty. I think the only time I ever really talked about puberty as a "new" thing with my mom was when I got my first bra and very briefly when I got my period.
I've actually had a funny conversation with my dad about this. I have 3 older brothers and they all got the talk from my dad / each other (passed down from older to younger sibling). When I told him my mom never talked to me, he was like "WHAT! That was our deal. I took care of the boys and your mom talked to you! You never got the talk? (sarcastically) Do you want to have it now?" --- this was a few months ago. I'm 23. |

I'm from a family of repressed intellectuals. So when I was eleven, they did what they always did: bought me a book.

My mother kept saying she was going to have "the talk" with me, but thankfully never did.
She told me what a period was and how to take care of it when I was twelve. |

Re: When/did you parents tell you about sex/puberty?

No one ever told me anything. I didn't attend sex eds (there wasn't any sex education programs where I lived).
Yet I still know about them . . . somehow. Come to think of it, how did I know about sex and puberty anyway? *) |

Re: When/did you parents tell you about sex/puberty?

My mom told me about puberty before I started my period, and I started my period when I was nine. One day, she just sat me down and explained it all to me. I think I was about eight.
As for sex, it depends on what you mean. They told me when I was quite young that the 'stork' didn't bring me here. And I definitely knew that you couldn't get pregnant by kissing before I was 10. I remember having sexual fantasies by the time I was 11. Though, I've learned soooo much about sex in the last year, it's completely unreal. My parents told me what sex was when I was about 10; but, they barely told me half of what it is. Oh my. :P Lol, I remember one time when I was about eight, I was at my aunt's house and an ad popped up on the computer that read, "Free condoms!" I asked her what they were, but she just said I didn't need to know. XD |

Re: When/did you parents tell you about sex/puberty?

My parents never really told me about sex, they avoided the topic as a whole.
And as for puberty, my mom told me about my period the day I got it :dem: and long before then was everything else. |

		I was 10 for both. Not sure if I should vote for 5 - 10 or 10 - 15

I was like 7 or 8 upon learning about sex and all that jazz. But it wasn't my parents who teached me the terminology and such.

Re: When/did you parents tell you about sex/puberty?

They didn't. xD. I think they just assumed I'd find out somehow, and I had internet access so I did. Not sure it's the best parenting strategy though >.>.
I mean, sure, school taught us everything a couple years after you start getting curious about it, but by that time, it's far too late to unsee anything >.>. |
