If the discharge was bright orange, I think it's time to see a doctor. Discharge isn't meant to be all the colors of the rainbow. Anything that isn't white or clear is something to be worried about. However, since the question was about your periods, you'll get this a lot. Your body is just readjusting to something that is still fairly new to it. It may take you years before it regulates itself, or it might be preparing to regulate right now which is why it's causing you so much grief. If you're truly concerned about it, I would bring it up with your/a doctor.

Your period will take some time before it regulates. Since you just got it about a year ago, its normal for it to be a little off. It usually takes about 2 years before you start to get a normal cycle, but even then it can vary a bit.
Orange discharge is not normal either, so I would see a doctor about that.

It's normal for your period to do this. Mine was very irregular when it first started, and wasn't terribly regular until I was 14. The orange discharge could be some type of infection, but it could be normal. Call a physician and ask, or talk to your mother as well. You say orange, if you're meaning bright orange, that really doesn't sound right. If you're meaning a lighter red, it could be post menstrual discharge. But I'd recommend you see a doc.
