I'm dating a girl exactly like my mother.

Okay. Been in a relationship since October, and the girl is amazing. She's smart, pretty, funny, pretty much every guy's dream. But this one thing irks me about her: She's almost exactly like my mom. And not a few resemblances, so much as to when she picks me up, she's talking about the exact thing my mom was 3 minutes ago. This isn't huge huge, not so much whether I'm contemplating breaking up with her. I feel like I have to tell her some how, just tactfully. Any suggestions, or am I looking to much into this. I would appreciate help from people who have been in this situation.

Hey there,

I haven't been in this situation, but I heard that people tend to date people who have a resemblance to their parents so its not uncommon.

She shouldn't take it too bad, just make sure she knows that your fine with it and its not necessarily a bad thing. If it doesn't bother you too much then I don't really see a problem.

Has she met your mother? They might get along well if they are similar so that could be a positive outcome of this.

Best of luck!

"Haha, my mum was just talking about that a few minutes ago." ?

You could just tell her that she reminds you of your mum in a few ways and laugh it off. It doesn't seem like something you
have to tell her, but if you'd like you're free to do so!

I think this would be the best way to bring up the issue. If you say something like, "Wow, you act/sound/talk just like my mom," she could take offense to it (or at least be creeped out by the idea that you might be comparing HER, your romantic partner, to your MOM).

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Definitely introduce her to your mother, and maybe use a line as suggested above such as "Haha, my mom was talking about the same thing just a minute ago." or similar. Good luck :) PM if you need anything.

It's fairly common.

"Little boys marry their mommies, and little girls marry their daddies," an old wise man once said.

And here I'm trying to avoid dating a guy like my father or step-father, because that means I'm doomed to be with an alcoholic.
