Christmas Present for Girlfriend

This might be a pretty small problem compared to the things people normally post on here, but it's really important to me. Please don't be insulted by my pettiness...
It's the first time I'm buying my girlfriend a present, I'm still having trouble deciding what to give her...
She's really cold all the time when i'm with her, so the first thing I can think of is buying her a nice coat from REI. She's really into videogames and I want to get her something she can actually hve FUN with, and she's been playing HL lately, so I could also get her HL2 or maybe Skyrim. Her families aren't very wealthy either, so the other thing I could get her is a really pretty necklace which matches her eyes that I saw in the mall the other day.
We've been together for about 4 months now, but I still don't know her families very well. What would be most appropriate to get her, coming from her boyfriend, that wouldn't upset her protective parents or make her feel alienated/disappointed?

Honestly I think you should buy/make her something that will make her feel special. Something that will make her smile. Little things make girls happy. I promise. So something that interests her, no matter how small or how much money you spend (or don't spend) shouldn't matter. As long as it comes from the heart that's all that truly matters. :)

For the record, all the things you mentioned sound like a good idea. Especially the coat because she's always cold or the video game because she likes them. See, the thought counts.

I think that getting her a game that you think she'd like would be a really good idea. If you get her a really nice necklace after 4 months, her parents may think you have other intentions than just being with her as a boyfriend. [It sounds dumb but trust me.] I think she'd enjoy a game, because you can play that whenever, and with a coat or something, it won't be long until its spring.

All of your ideas sound good. The coat one is really cute, in my opinion.
She'll like whatever you get her though, because all of your ideas sound thoughtful and show you care.

I think that you should give her a video game and then make her a card that is personal. Somewhere in there I think there needs to be something that is personal that will make her smile and be happy. But I like your ideas, and any Idea that you go with I think will be great!

Let me know how it goes!

Best wishes,
Chris

Thanks for your replies!
What I'm probably going to do is buy her the coat, since it's cold here till early may.
But I'm going to hide HL2 in one of the pockets, and make a card for her.
Is that going overboard?

No! That is cute the way you have set it up! I personally like it! That made me smile and I'm not even a girl!

Good idea! :)

Let us know how it works out!

Best wishes,
Chris
