THE DARE (Story through Poem) - February 8th 2015, 04:56 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

This is Color Coded of course. Red is what the partner is saying, blue is the narrator. Though it is quite easy to follow, I just thought color coding would be cool

The Dare is about a young adult who was abused most of her life due to her sexuality. This has led to severe depression and hurt. Even though she is older, and away from it, it still does affect her daily life. One day, She met someone who told her that a certain drug would help ease her current pains. She declines, and he says "Just try it. I Dare you." And thus, begins her life with "The Dare."

Enjoy

It could kill you!
Kill you dead!
Those are the words she said
And I heard her,
But I didn't see her point.
So, she yelled
She screamed
Even got a little mean
But I only put a lighter
To my joint.

Will you ever listen?
Or pay attention?
I could hear the sadness
In her tone.
And though I never say it
My actions do display it
How sometimes
I just want to be alone.

Why do you do it?
She asked me again.
Why put yourself
In this position?
But I don't respond,
I just carry on.
No answer
Can explain this addiction.

How did this start?
She questions me.
What makes you
want to go “there”?
We sit in silence
I think of the violence
And then I respond
The Dare.

The Dare that turns
sounds into whispers.
The Dare that was
reckless and dumb.
The Dare that eased
the pain.
The euphoria
that makes me numb.
A Dare that said
Just try it.
A promise that
I would feel better.
Now a girl
That wants to help me.
But The dare
won't let me let her.

Will you end it?
End it for me?
She pleads
from the depths of her soul.

I nod my head,
And mumble
Not yet.
Right now
The Dare has control.

You have a problem with me? Well that's not my problem
