I wanted a mermaid because Chess (Vargulf) and I are mermaids.  It basically started out with a joke about Trident gum and evolved from there, and I fell in love with mermaids and mermaid themed things. So that's important to me. On one arm there's an infinity sign, which I really wanted to get too, but I didn't want to get it as its own tattoo so the artist was able to incorporate it into the mermaid.
