Hi Ally,

The TeenHelp chat room is actually hosted on a program called Discord, so you'll need an account in order to start chatting. While Discord does have a voice chat feature, the TH chat room is all done by text; the only way anybody would be able to hear you is if you deliberately joined a channel that's set up to be voice chat - which TeenHelp doesn't currently have. What we do have is different channels for chatting, discussing community events, and seeking/offering support and advice.

If you sign up for a Discord account and then click on the link to join the Chat Room, you'll be taken right to it. There you can read the rules and dive into chatting, and if you run into any problems while in the chat room itself you're welcome to ask our friendly members (in particular the Chat Buddies, who are there to ensure chat remains a welcoming environment) for assistance.

Hopefully this answered your question, and feel free to respond to this if you need any more guidance.
