Remember

I remember those golden days.
I was happy,
Young and carefree,
What happened that made it different?

I remember when we went on a school trip.
I smiled those whole two days.
It was so beautiful.
When can I feel like that again?

I remember when we got to go to the nearby park.
We had so much fun.
Now we can only use the boring school playground.
Why did they prohibit us from going?

I remember all those jokes.
I laughed every day.
They were weird, but funny.
Why did we let them go?

I remember our school play.
I was the lead in it,
Singing my heart out.
When will that happen again?

I remember those times.
I was ecstatic every day, not just most days.
We did so many fun things.
Why did that year have to go away?
