A few days ago I walked several miles. Lately I've been watching TV, enjoying fresh air, and trying to focus more on self-care.

I do the classic rubber band on my wrist thing. I also have a little chart that I color in one square of every day I don't hurt myself. If I can get a whole year of them, in a row, I'm going to let myself get another tattoo. I haven't had a really strong desire to do it since I started keeping track of it like that (it's only been, like, a week) but hopefully it will work even when I really, really want to do it too.

I dealt with self-injury as a teenager and it was very difficult to stop. One thing that helped me was getting a calendar, and every day I went without injuring, I put a smiley face sticker on that day. Soon there were so many smiley faces on the calendar, it gave me motivation to stop.

Welcome to TeenHelp!
I'm glad that worked for you. :)

For me:
-Do schoolwork.
-Play with my dog.
-Watch shows.
-Read.
-Talk to family or friends.
-Remind myself that my body is God's temple and my injuring hurts not only me but others and God.

Re: how are you beating self harm?

today was a long day spent out of my room from 11:30am-9:30pm. I made sure to empty out my purse of any blades I had in there before I left this morning. Right now I'm pretty exhausted so I'm not gonna do it anytime soon. I don't think at least.

I walked a whole lot around the city.
Went into different stores and shops. Got my nails done at Sephora :hehe: they let you try it on for free. But I have no idea how to put on makeup so I stuck to nail polish. Painting my nails helps me with my skin picking problem.

Spent time with my sister at the park

Went to the support group

Waited for my other sister in the train station for over an hour but we sorted it out when we got home. It was a long story.

Will be going to sleep soon.

Re: how are you beating self harm?

I shared my two recent poems with a crisis line's email service that I've been having exchanges with.

Today I stayed a little longer at the counseling center. It is a community center so there was a few groups going on. One was called "skittlez" and is an lgbtq group. I saw my friend from college who now works here as an intake counselor <3 and was sitting in on the group. We listed stereotypes and then disputed each one and reworded them. Then dinner was served (only ate the salad but still better than nothing as I haven't been eating much) and I usually don't eat there but I was hungry and remembered HALT and didn't feel like going home right away because I knew I might SH if I did

Posted a poem
Prepared lunch for my family
Hand washed my clothes and hung them up on the clothesline

I'm going to take a shower today
Make a list of something for therapy
Call the job training
Go to therapy
Go to the performance
The performance is in the evening so that should lead me to going to sleep when I come home.
I got a new blade today but I hid it out of sight.
