Out of the ashes I'm burning like a fire. You can save your apologies, you're nothing but a liar. I've got shame, I've got scars that I will never show. I'm a survivor in more ways than you know. 'Cause all the pain and the truth, I wear like a battle wound. So ashamed, so confused, I was broken and bruised. Now I'm a warrior.

To clarify, do you mean what people have been diagnosed with, what they think they have, what their pattern of behavior best matches, ect? Just curious
& I believe EDNOS is the most common, according to the professionals. It's what around 50% of eating disorder patients suffer with. I THINK. I read it in a leaflet, so may not be an entirely credible source

I put EDNOS because my eating disorder is actually a secondary disorder (primary being depression and PTSD). Or like a reaction. I restrict food when I have memories/flashbacks because of my PTSD.

I voted EDNOS, even though I've not been diagnosed. I could be overreacting, whatever, I don't normally talk about it here.
I think EDNOS probably would be the most common, because anorexia nervosa/bulimia nervosa/binge eating disorder all have very specific criteria, whereas EDNOS is just kind of... everyone else who has disordered eating but doesn't fit the criteria for a 'proper' eating disorder. That's just how I've always understood it, correct me if I'm wrong

I ticked both Bulimia Nervousa (purging) and EDNOS, because I have been diagnosed with both, different times. Because my actions from the eating disorder vary. It started out diagnosed as EDNOS, because I didn't purge, and didn't fit the criteria for Bulimia, but then later on in the progression, I fell into the criteria and eventually did begin to purge, and was then diagnosed as Bulimic. So sorta glad you could tick more than one, since I wasn't sure exactly what to put down, seeing as it's bounced back and forth before.

This is very common. My mother was diagnosed with bulimia before I was born, and during my lifetime, she mostly has had the symptoms of binge-eating disorder, but with some periods of restricting. Oh eating disorders in families...

I didn't know that was common, I feel sorta better about myself now, sorry that it's at your mother's expense though Traci, and yeah, but I feel sorta alone seeing as the only other person in my family who had an eating disorder was my aunt.

I wouldn't say you're alone, I basically did what you do when I was diagnosed with an EDNOS, that was before I started purging, I would only binge eat and starve to counteract, and that's actually how mine started out and it stayed that way for I'd say around 5 years, but after that, I picked up purging via laxatives, then 2 years later, I began purging the other way, and became classified as Bulimic (purging type). So in other words, no you are not alone, mine just developed further because of times when I let my ED run over my sense of control and what I found gross and not, I still think it's disgusting honestly, I wish I had never started.
