I think I want to write an article discussing the fact that some mentally ill people don't comply with treatment and stop taking medication. Maybe discuss why.

I really like this topic for an article! I think a few other points you could touch on if you wanted would be why it's important to be compliant with the prescribed medication plan, what can happen if one stops a medication suddenly (e.g. withdrawal symptoms), and also what one can do if they feel a medication isn't helping or is making symptoms worse (one reason someone might stop being compliant).

Not sure if you are able to mention that sometimes people go into a hospital while weaning off medication if they no longer want to. In a safe monitored way. Not sure if that would fit into your Article or not, just an idea/suggestion.
