Amount of medication? -
January 5th 2012, 09:00 PM
Hii.
I think I am right by saying a use isn't allowed to post saying they overdosed and put down what they take and the amount of it? Correct me if I am wrong. Is it okay for the person to say 'I took 30 of this'?
I wasn't sure so I wanted to check.
Thanks

I would think it'd be dangerous for other users because they'd know how many of what to overdose, exc. However, I've seen us not edit them out in General Health when people are asking how much of a medicine to take. I guess if you edit it I'd just say "Medicine amounts" or something.

I think in this context, putting how much they took to overdose would be considered not okay. However, if a person says "I'm taking xx MG of Prozac" then I think that's acceptable.

I agree with everyone. If it's general health and people are wondering how much medication to take, I think dosage amounts are acceptable. But, if it's talking about an overdose, I think it should go. Personally, I get triggered by things like that and I'm sure it could be triggering to someone else.

I'd edit out an overdose. Because from my experience, when I was suicidal I searched the internet, and I survived because I was given the wrong information and didn't take too many. I find it one of the most triggering things out there, and given how many yahoo questions there are on how much to overdose on, I'd assume it might trigger or be dangerous to a lot of other people.

It's acceptable for someone to post the dose that they're taking of a certain medication, because it's the dose that was prescribed by their doctor, therefore making it a safe amount to ingest. But, if they post how many pills they've taken to overdose, it may give some users an idea of how many pills to take if they want to overdose themselves.
I would just put "Medicine amount" or "Overdose amount," or something similar.

For reason, I usually just put "triggering content." For future reference, if you feel the need to give members a more detailed explanation, refer them to the Code of Conduct. Most people would agree that an overdose amount (or any amount of any substance that is used illegally) would fall under the "Mature and Sensitive Content Policy."
