What do you eat when you're feeling down or have a low appetite? -
February 6th 2022, 12:09 PM
Depression and mental health can do numbers on our appetites, so I wanted to see what everyone else tends to gravitate towards when they're feeling down or just are not really in the mood to eat much.
For me it's salted butter on crackers. So simple, so 'safe' and always the same, and tasty. Nothing fancy, but it fills my tummy when I'm not in the mood for much.
What about you guys?
It's enough to live a live with love until we die Autism, Depression, Anxiety

I actually like the idea of salted butter on crackers. I had something similar to that as a child whenever I got sick.
Really, I just generally don't eat when I have a low appetite. But, after a while, I realize I need to whether that's because I feel exhausted, get body chills, or feel weekness. I try to stick to something that I know will be gentle on my stomach but still feel nourishing. It'll probably be something like oatmeal (with water instead of milk, which is what I usually do for breakfast) or a small serving of yogurt. I try to avoid indulging these days because I know that'd make me feel even crappier.
Mentally, emotionally, and physically. I realize this as someone who is really trying to recover from a dangerous binge eating habit.

My go-to food or snack is Ritz peanut butter crackers dipped in jam
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive

Same. I usually eat crackers. Don't want nothing elaborate or sweet.

My default is a nice grilled cheese sandwich (or a not-grilled cheese sandwich if I don't have the energy for the extra steps) or instant noodles. If that's too much effort I'll usually just opt for an Up & Go.

I like to keep Birdseye veggie pasta in the house as a go-to depression meal or easy lunch option. It has some protein and fiber, and if you gussy them up with some cheese and spices, they're pretty good.
