May is National Photography Month!

Did you know that May is National Photography Month in the United States?

Ever since the mid 19th century, more than 150 years ago, photography evolved through many stages into what we see and know it as today. In its early days, there was the daguerreotype into the digital photography of the 21st century.

I didn't know there was a photography week, but this is exciting. I saw a really good news report this morning about how photography can be used as a tool to encourage discussions of feelings. By taking photographs of what someone interprets as an emotion, and then asking others what emotion it represents, it can promote the idea that everyone sees the world differently and that all feelings or interpretations are valid. Photography can be a really powerful tool in that sense, so it's great to see it celebrated!

I didn't know about this! I would love to get into photography. I have taken photos before but they aren't very seasonal for the month of May but I may post them if I can remember!
