What is the actual benefit of iMessage?

I recently turned it off as I see no benefit. It shows the sender when a text was delivered and unless you turn it off (like I did a long time ago), can also show if you read it. Why the problem? “Delivered” removes probable deniability of “I didn’t receive it/phone was off” and also causes people to know they are blocked from contacting you when they send a message and it suddenly is green and not an iMessage. What if I don’t want someone like a boss seeing that I received their text message(ie. on a day off asking to come in). I literally see no reason to use iMessage. Is there a benefit I am missing?

It just seems to be the blue bubble that people want-or is it the ability to unsend or edit messages?

Unsending and editing messages is really helpful for me, as well as scheduling future messages. I also think (but am not positive) you can message any person with iMessage without being charged if you have limited texts.

iMessage is free, Between others who use iPhones. I think iMessage also allows you to send photos for free. If you don’t want to use iMessage you can go into settings on your phone and turn iMessage off. WhatsApp is the same, you can see when people have read a message by the ticks turning blue etc.

Is limited texting still a thing though? Haven’t heard of that since a very long time ago- I may have been in elementary school.

After turning it off, I realize how editing/unsending was such a good thing, but the drawbacks outweigh it imo

I never had to pay for a text. Photos sent via iMessage still count against your data though, which isn’t unlimited in every plan.

Photos via iMessage are also free when connected to WiFi . With my plan I get unlimited data, texts and calls. I know it depends on the plan, each make of phone has different features whether it’s Apple/iphone, Samsung , huwaiwe , Nokia, Motorola or blackberry . They all have different features and operating systems but I think all smart phones do allow similar messaging services . Though to be fair if I’m sending a photo to someone I mainly will send it via WhatsApp.
