Tattoos and Piercings This forum is to ask questions and discuss tattoos, piercings and other aesthetic body modifications.
Hello
My mum has offered to pay for either the whole of or part of a tattoo for me for my 19th birthday. It's to cover up my self-harm scars so it will need to be on my left wrist. I have an idea of having the Chinese symbols for inner strength written, but I'm not sure about the colour or design or anything! so any advice/opinions would be great. This will be my first tatt. I'm also worried about it effecting my job prospects because I want to go into teaching. Just any advice would help. I really like the idea of having inner strength as i have been through a lot and one thing people keep saying to me is how strong I am. I'm begging to agree with them!
Help please xx
"Friends are like stars; you don't always see them but you know they are always there"
"It gives me hope. I love you so much. You give me a reason to breathe. Its something for me to not kill myself for" >>> means so much :')
my tech teacher has tattoos [on her wrist also]
she says that when she goes to interviews she covers up all her tattoos and covers up or takes out all her piercings.
but when they hire her she just shows them
but i'm not too sure on the conditions on the school you'll be working out.
you could always wear long sleeves to cover it up?
but that might get hot... .-.
Ok, so first of all, be SUPER careful if you plan on getting a tattoo in another language. Mistranslations are very common, do not let it happen to you. Find someone who speaks the language, do NOT trust Internet sites for translation info. And if you want to go into teaching, I would suggest some sort of private or alternative school, I go to a private school and over half the teachers have tattoos and everyones fine with it. Just be careful, and good luck!
i got a tattoo on the inside of my left wrist on my 18th birthday. it's the word hope. its the beginning of a maybe sleve to cover up some really noticable sh. its a really great idea, having a tattoo there cuz u always see it. im going to school rite now to be a teacher. most schools its not a big deal. if your looking at a private or Christian school or something it's a little more risky. i will give u a tip no one thought 2 tell me. eat before you go. it seriously decreases your chances of passing out.
I like the overall idea you have. =) I also think it has great meaning especially being where it's place.
With the career thing I have some bad news. A lot of people will be judgemental of it, so you'll have to hope the place you apply for its accepting of tattoo's. Im my opinion if it's just a chinese symbol and not a play boy bunny head they should be okay with it. =)
I'll do whatever it takes to be the mistake you can't live without.
