I noticed a few different Pride events didn't have police officers present, which raises questions about how safety is handled if something happens. Maybe they did have officers in plain clothing, but if I were in the LGBT celebration, this would be my #1 concern and could cause me to not participate. Maybe someone else has a different experience. Any thoughts?

In the greater cosmic scheme of things, does it really matter?

There's an article from June 2020 that literally addresses this. I know I wouldn't want cops around at Pride celebrations and parade.

In Australia, there are usually police officers present in LGBTQIA+ celebrations.

I’d be a little nervous to have police officers at Pride.

Exactly! They've been known to be hostile towards the LGBT+ community. Why would we want them at our parades and celebrations?
