The Rainbow Chaser (poem) -
June 24th 2013, 04:42 AM
A random poem I decided to write. Ty for reading! Comments and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated!

I'm nothing but a rainbow chaser.
Chasing something that isn't there.
Chasing something that cannot be
And something I'll never see.
I might see it from far away.
But the the closer I get, it starts to fade.
When I think I'm going to take it all,
I lose my sight and begin to fall.
The colors all blend into one
Underneath the burning sun.
I've lost my way, and lost the race.
So thus begins another chase.
So I sit and wait for the rain.
Until the world is fresh again.
Until another rainbow appears.
But it still takes years and years.
Years of work and years of search,
Years of doubting my on self-worth.
And when a rainbow is in sight,
I try to get it, and I think I might.
I chase and chase and chase some more,
And I can see colors galore.
But just as I get close enough,
The rainbow seems to just go "puff."
It's out of sight, it's out of mind.
But another one will come in time.
And maybe I will catch that one.
Then I can finally say "I'm done."

So, this poem is basically about me and my dreams. My dreams are like a rainbow. Something that isn't real, and I can never get. But I keep chasing them anyway, even though I can never have them. I do it in hopes that maybe I will catch them one day, but I never do. They always end up failing. Then I get a new dream, and that one fails. But maybe one day I'll finally catch a dream, and I can be happy. I am a rainbow chaser. Chasing and wanting something I know I can never have, and it hurts a lot. It's tiring, but it's what I do.

This put an image in my head.
Stay strong!
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive
