Schedules change,
foods different,
social expectations and events,
'Whats wrong with her why won't she join in with the games we play?'
'She's autistic ' they say,
They nod and smile,
The noise, the lights, its loud and all so bright,
Routines all different, nothing feels right,
Conform to social norms, act normal,
I can't, its too much,
'She's autistic'
It's all they ever say,
It's like I come with a warning, a label,
'She's autistic'
Thats what they say,
Clothes that itch and feel tight,
'you can't wear jeans thats not okay'
Meltdown comes next,
It's loud, its bright, thing smell strange,
'She's autistic' they say,
That's just her way, her own strange little way.
The music it bellows out,
The people they scream and they shout,
They drink and drink,
'She's autistic' thats what they say
Like that makes it all okay...
'There will be bad days, there will be good days, there will be really bad days, and really good days, and days that are not bad or good but just simply suck, but either way you got through it and you are here today and that is all that really matters''

I like the repetition of "'she's autistic,' they say"." The holidays can definitely be a lot on someone.
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive
