My best friend thinks she's pregnant...is it possible? -
October 1st 2010, 01:10 AM
OK so my best friend Kaley was taking antibiotics while taking birth control and her and her boyfriend had sex without a condom on the 18th of Sept. He did not "pull out".
She was due for her period Wednesday the 29th, and they are always at the same time since she's on BC. Start on Wed, end on Sat. She hasn't gotten it yet.
How likely is it that she's pregnant? And should she take a pregnancy test if her period does not come by Saturday?

Yes, if she was on antibiotics it is possible, especially sense it was in the middle of her cycle. But it's only been a day, so I would wait until at least until Saturday to start to stress out because stress can make it even later. But if she's really nervous, an early pregnancy test should be accurate at this time if she wants to take one. I hope everything works out.

there is a possibility, I'd suggest she takes a test for sure to find out. Antibiotics can also mess with a girls cycle along with vedoing out their BC.

Antibiotics make the birth control pill useless. That's why it's recommended to use another form of contraception (Ie. condom) when taking antibiotics.
It is definitely possible that she is pregnant. I'd wait it out for a few days and then take a test.

A week after she thought her period was due, she should take a pregnancy test. Depending on the type of antibiotics, it could have negated her birth control. But stressing about being a couple days late isn't that odd, especially at your age, when things aren't always regular. Stress, also, can make someone late.

Have her take a pregnancy test or two, and make an appointment with her doctor to confirm. It's definitely possible, but there are options for everything

It turns out that the only reason that she missed her period was because of the antibiotics messing with it. This whole predicament would have never gotten started if her boyfriend would just wear a flipping condom. That way she wouldn't have gotten a bladder infection, thus not having to take antibiotics.
