I don't really know if I have any helpful tips...
Just try to talk to more people and try to inject yourself into the gay/bi community would be the best advice I could give.
Best wishes x

Don't be too straightforward with other girls, it might make them uncomfortable. let them know in small ways that you are interested, like giving them flowers, or asking them to hang out or go to a dance with you

As much as I agree with EmoBunny above me, Not being straightforward enough can make people uncomfortable too. What's worse, someone who is actually showing their attempts at liking you or someone your not sure is even interested in you that way?
The rest of it I agree with. I don't have many tips, but maybe being open and well, everyone likes talking about themselves, don't they? Ellie has the best thing up their, getting interested or more into your gay/bi community, you'll meet people through there.
I've said it once, I've said it twice, I've said it a thousand fucking times
That I'm OK, that I'm fine, that it's all just in my mind
But this has got the best of me, and I can't seem to sleep
