well im feeling really crappy and i dont know why. i just feel so alone. i thought i was getting better but then i start to feel like this and its scary. i have so much going on and i dont even know how to put it into words im just feeling all these emotions all at once. i just don't know what to do anymore

Hi Chantelle,

Im glad you're still here reaching out to us. I know that talking about things can be hard at times but you're asking for help and thats brilliant.

Truth is, recovery is not about deciding you want to get better, working hard for a few weeks and feeling better and never feeling rubbish again. You're going to have these moments where you feel bad and it might last a few hours, days or even weeks and I think its all about muddling through it as hard as that might be. You need to stay focus. Just because you're having a little bit of a rough patch does not mean you're not getting better or that things are going to get really bad again. Stay in control and stay focused and determined and you will get there.

You can beat this. Keep distracting yourself and focusing your mind on other things and not the way you feel. If you need to talk to someone, do so. You dont have to be alone.

thanks i just feel like whenever i make progress i go a step back and its frustrating. i knew getting better was going to be hard but i did not think it would be this hard. i hate having these thoughts of harming myself

Hey there,
When your having thoughts of harming yourself surround yourself with things to do. If you can surrounding yourself with people would be helpful as well.
Have you tried writing things out? That works for some people, including me. Sometimes expressing your feelings on paper can be a way to vent.
Also, keeping a journal where you can write down when you feel like self-harm or just feeling down can let you keep track. That way if/when you see a therapist you can show them the journal.
As Jessie already said, if you need to talk to someone, then do it. We're here for you and we care.

I agree with keeping busy once you get thoughts of hurting yourself. Distract yourself in any non-destructive way you can. Also, some people get depressed when they really don't know why. Even if you don't know why you should still talk to someone, as Evanescence suggested. Tell them how you're feeling and if they ask why you can just say you don't really know. A therapist will be able to help you through this.

Hi again Chantelle,

I know this is hard, I do, I get it. But if it was easy it wouldn't be worth it. Sometimes when we're going into recovery we have to step outside of our comfort zones to get anywhere which might mean us doing things which feel scary like talking to someone and telling them how you feel. But even though doing so is scary, it might also really help you. But we can only advise you to do so, ultimately, you can either just listen to us, or you can listen to what we say and put our advice into action. You are not alone and people can help but they can only do so if they know what is going on for you right now.

I know you can do this so keep on fighting,
