i need advice, asap. - August 23rd 2012, 10:09 PM

Being at home this summer was extremely hard! But I saw a counselor and we thought when I returned to school and had my support people around me and if I actually opened up about everything to them so they could understand then it would be good.

So, I get back to school! And I see one of professors whose been a big support and he tells me that he ran into the campus counselor who asked him if I had been talking to him and he was like "not really, why?" and apparently she was like "i have my suspicions that she is going to return to how she was her freshman year of college, if you talk to her let me know." He said he wouldn't because last time that happened she told us we weren't allowed to talk and she had to be the one to help me get through it or another counselor.

Then I see my best friend, and we've hit a rough patch in our relationship, so that was kind of hard.

So, then I e-mailed my campus pastor who was probably my biggest support. And I asked if we could set up a time to speak, and I got a reply that just listed some counselors in the area to talk too and she stated, I'm not equipped to handle this, and it would be unprofessional of me to relate to you at this level. Please keep in mind that I have talked to her on a weekly basis about life for a year and a half, so it doesn't add up!

I feel like I'm losing everything. I don't know what to do, part of me wants to maturly approach her and ask her about it. But I feel like that would setting myself up for another trap and it would only get back to the counselor and prove her right. I need advice on what to do!!!

all i want is a place to call my own and
mend the hearts of everyone who feels alone,
you know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

It sounds like the best thing you can do is talk to the campus counselor or to one of the counselors on the list the pastor gave you. I know it feels like you're losing people, but a lot of them, namely those who hold another role with you (professor or pastor for example) cannot help you the way that you need them to either because they aren't qualified to do so or because it would cause them an ethical dilemma because they would be engaging in what is called "dual relationships" which is geneally not a good thing.
