Teacher....:S - October 6th 2009, 09:27 PM

OK, so I posted on here a few days ago that I emailed a teacher about my depression etc. It was really long, and it was a HUGE step to send it. OK, so that was saturday night...I thought she would send an email back, but she hasn't...Does that mean she didn't get it??? I wasn't in school today, but I missed her lesson, and she said to my friend that I should go and see her because she needed to explain the sheets from the lesson to me...She didn't say anything about my email, but then it was a lesson etc. so she may just have been being helpful/tactful
So yeh, I don't know whether she got the email and is just doesn't know what to write, and/or wants to speak to me face to face, or is it that she didn't get it and i really do need to go and get just sheets from her??
ALso, if she does know and did get it, what to I even say. Or do I let her talk...???
Argh this is making me feel worse, I feel like it was bad idea to send it, although I know in the long term it was in fact a very good idea.
Thanks

Sounds good that you think you've found someone to talk to about your problems. Here's a thing, I obviously don't know what was in the letter. What frequently happens, especially with people who might have had their life easy or not been faced with certain problems, is they don't know how to handle problems which they are not familiar with. Or they don't want to have much to do with it, they don't want to complicate their own life, which is selfish and a bit immature, I assume your teacher isn't like this.

If the e-mail got through, I'd be confident that no harm will come out of it. Give a little bit of time, for your teacher to think it through maybe. If not then approach her yourself outside a lesson, and just ask her if she got the e-mail, that ought to start a conversation.

Hey there Frankie,

First off congrats on sending that email I know that must have been really hard.

You could ask your teacher if she got the email. You dont have to go in to details or anything just ask her if she got it. Theres always a chance that she didnt or she just hasnt got the chance to look at it yet. Im sure she wants to help you out in anyway possible but sometimes teachers can get really busy. Making lesson plans grading papers things like that.

I was emailing my school consuler one time and it took her a few days to respond because she was really busy. It had nothing to do with her not wanting to help me.

Hang in there you'll get through this.

Re: Teacher....:S - October 6th 2009, 10:00 PM

Thanks guys
I think that she will understand, she was like a huge party of the uni. counselling service, only a few years ago. So I think she will have some idea of what to say, even if she has never experienced it herself...
I will wait and see what happens tomorrow I think, my friends certainly think that she got the email but simply wants to deal with this head on by speaking to me personally, rather than over email. I'm not so sure, but then I get why they think that. If she doesn't seem to have got it, then I'm not sure what I'd do...I really don't feel I can ask her, coz if she did she'll be like..."and..." and if she didn't she would be totally confused, would probably ask what it's about and then I could tell her, but I just can't do that. I find this so hard to talk about...

Just check whether the email adress you sent it too is correct for 100%. And, I don't think she will shrug it off. It's hard to imagine, especially if you say she used to be head counselor or something.

It was correct, as it was on my email address book for my school email. It should have gone through, but then you can never tell with technology :S I don't think she would brush it over, if she got it...
